It is sometimes said that Canada’s Constitution does not protect property rights, but the reality is more nuanced. This session will explore the complex relationship between property rights and the Constitution, including the question of why an entrenched right to property was left out of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. The session will then go on to address contemporary issues, including the recent calls to strengthen constitutional protections for property.
NOTE:Â This event is hybrid. It will be in-person and as an online Zoom Webinar.
