Aubrey joined the Centre as its new Public Legal Education Coordinator in September 2022. She received her law degree from the Dickinson School of Law (Pennsylvania State University) and her BA from the University of Toronto. In 2021, she received a SSHRC scholarship to complete her LLM thesis at the University of British Columbia examining information sharing between schools and police agencies.
Aubrey’s interest in constitutional law and Charter issues began during her undergraduate studies and led her to volunteer in various capacities at the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, beginning in 2012. At the CCLA, she assisted with government submissions, completed legal research, and presented educational workshops on the Charter to youth in grades 8 through 12. While articling at Justice for Children and Youth and Peacebuilders, she also provided public legal education to young people and service providers. She was called to the Ontario bar in June 2020.
Before starting law school, Aubrey interned in the publicity and promotional department for Allied Integrated Marketing, which focused primarily on Disney’s home video and theatrical releases. She also had a brief stint co-writing and producing a feature length crowd-funded independent film and two plays staged at the Toronto Fringe Festival.
